Israel’s army said Friday that in the last week he has killed Muhammad Abd al-Aziz Abu Zubaida, whom he identified as the “boss” of the Gazati faction of the Islamic State terrorist group (EI). According to a military statement, Abu Zubaida, which was “eliminated” in the area of Bureij (center of the strip), held the largest position within the terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip. “He was responsible for determining the policy, planning and supervising the execution of the activities of the IS in Judea and Samaria (occupied Bank), in the Gaza Strip and in the Sinai Peninsula,” said the army. Israel also accused Abu Zubaida of participating “actively” in the fight against Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip. There are hardly any records of the presence of the IS in Gaza, beyond some confrontations, a decade ago, of related safist groups against the Hamas authorities in the enclave.
