The Yemen Houthis state that the government’s prime minister led by the rebel group and several other ministers were killed in an Israeli air strike.
“The Israeli enemy attacked Prime Minister Ahmed Al-Rahawi and several ministers during a government’s routine conference to evaluate his activities and performance last year,” the presidency said in a statement broadcast on Hethis-controlled television.
There were no immediate comments from Israel, but authorities said on Thursday that the military targeted Houthi leaders days after the group fired a missile that contained a new type of fragmentation submunition.
Last Sunday (24), Israel launched against the headquarters of the Yamen government. The measure was a retaliation for the Hrathis missiles fired at Israeli territory. According to local media, two people died and another five were injured in the country’s capital, Sanaa.
The Houthis have attacked Red Sea ships in solidarity with the Palestinians after the attacks of October 7, 2023, and fired several missiles against Israel, most of which were intercepted.
The rebels are part of an Iran -supported alliance covering the Middle East, but was severely weakened by Israeli attacks.
