Yemen’s Hutí Government Prime Minister Ahmad Ghalleb al-Rahwi, and several ministers died in an Israeli attack against the capital, Saná, last Thursday, as published on Saturday the news agency led by the group, citing a statement by the Supreme Political Council of the Hutíes, Mahdi Al-Mashat. Several people were injured, according to the same source, which has not given more details.
Israel reported yesterday that Thursday’s air attack was aimed at the Chief of Cabinet of Los Hutíes, the Minister of Defense and other senior officials, and added that he was verifying the result of the offensive.
The Israeli army said that their combat planes had attacked a complex in the Saná area where high -ranking hutis figures had gathered, describing the attack as a “complex operation” that was possible thanks to the compilation of intelligence and aerial superiority.
Ahmad Ghalleb Al-Rahwi became Prime Minister almost a year ago, but the Government’s de facto leader was his deputy, Mohamed Moftah, who has been designated this Saturday to carry out the functions of Prime Minister.
The hutis, backed by Iran, since Israel began the offensive against Gaza in what they describe as acts of solidarity with the Palestinians. They have also triggered missiles to Israel, most of which have been intercepted. Israel has responded with attacks in areas controlled by hutis in Yemen, including the port of Hodeidah.
