The minister of Alexandre de Moraes authorized the presence of police outside the house of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who meets house arrest. The measure reinforces policing at the residence of the former executive chief after.

In a statement sent to the Supreme Court on Friday (29/8), the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, assessed that there is “concrete risk of escape” from the former president, but has not seen a need for pre-trial detention in a prison unit. He was against the need to put agents inside Bolsonaro’s house, however, he requested reinforcement in monitoring.

In the decision issued on Saturday (30/8), Moraes highlighted a letter from the State Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration of the DF, which reports difficulties in monitoring. “[A casa em que] Mr. Jair Messias Bolsonaro resides has adjoining properties on both sides and backgrounds, which causes the existence of blind spots, ”says the document.
“Thus, the effectiveness of the full monitoring of defendant Jair Messias Bolsonaro, determined in a previous decision, requires the adoption of new measures, which reconcile the privacy of other residents of the site and the necessary guarantee of criminal law, preventing any possibility of escape,” points out in the decision.
