The Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, sent on Friday (29) to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to appear against the request of the Federal Police (PF) for agents of the corporation to remain inside the house of former President Jair Bolsonaro 24 hours a day.
However, the prosecutor spoke in favor of reinforcing security near the residence and in the entrance of the Solar Condominium of Brasilia, where the former president lives.
On Tuesday (26), Minister Alexandre de Moraes asked PGR’s opinion after receiving a letter sent by PF Director-General Andrei Rodrigues, after the determination for the Federal District Criminal Police to monitor the former president, who is under house arrest, using an electronic anklet.

In the letter, the PF warned that the anklet signal can fail, which would allow “capable for the custodian to undertake an escape.”
Thus, the director general said that a team of agents inside Bolsonaro’s house for 24 hours is necessary.
Opinion
In the demonstration sent to the Supreme Court, Gonet evaluates that it is not necessary to aggravate Bolsonaro’s situation at this time.

“This assessment does not induce the Attorney General’s Office at this time to advocate for more serious solutions than home custody,” he argued.
The prosecutor also considered that the PF is right to worry about the possibility of escape by pointing out that an asylum was found to Argentina on Bolsonaro’s cell phone and that his son, Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), is in the United States encouraging measures against Brazil.
However, Gonet understood that house arrest and electronic anklet monitoring are sufficient to avoid eventual escape.

“Circumstances, of course, recommend precautions against escape initiatives. All this, after all, is even more pronounced by the proximity of the trial of the criminal action, marked to start in a few days. Caution measures have already been adopted in attention in the interest in the effective application of criminal law,” he added.
