Citizens of the Slovak Republic have the opportunity on Saturday’s Open Door Day (DOD) of the National Council (NR) SR to discuss with MEPs and share their opinions with them. These stimuli and ideas can inspire and shape the legislative process. This was stated in his opening speech by Parliament’s President Richard Raši (Voice-SD). He recalled that the DOD program is held in the main building of the parliament also throughout the area of Bratislava Castle.
In connection with the ceremonial efficiency of the national flag in front of the parliament building, it highlighted the importance of state symbols. According to him, they are a living legacy of past generations that have dreamed of free and democratic Slovakia, and at the same time a promise for future generations. “Respect for state symbols is a manifestation of respect for its own country and its history and that is why today is so important today. We are opening for you not only doors to the National Council of the Slovak Republic and behind the scenes of parliament, but symbolically also the door to a better understanding of how our democracy works, which represent the symbols that represent it, ” said Raši.
