The cruiser is able to burn controlled missiles. The US administration also deployed war ships near Venezuela.

American cruiser USS Lake Erie capable of burning driven missiles on Friday night sailed through the Panaman Canal from the Pacific Ocean towards the Caribbean. This happened at a time when US President Donald Trump’s administration ordered to deploy war ships to the Venezuela coast, TASR writes according to AFP report.

AFP newsletters saw a 173-meter-long vessel in one of the chambers of the Canal on Friday around 9:30 pm local time (Saturday 04.30 CEST) to head from the Pacific Ocean towards the Caribbean sea.

The United States claims that the deployment of war ships into the southern part of the Caribbean is part of an operation aimed at combating drug trafficking. AFP recalls that the US presidential administration has not yet publicly threatened by military invasion in Venezuela.

The government criticizes the President

Trump’s government uses a particularly hard rhetoric to the address of Venezuelan President Nicolás Madur. She has repeatedly called it “illegitimate president” and accused him of helping in international drug trafficking. According to US, Maduro leads the gang Cartel de Los Soles (SLNK), which Washington considers to be a terrorist organization.

Maduro announced in response to reports on the arrival of the US fleet announced the deployment of 15,000 soldiers to the border with Colombia. In the meantime, Colombian President Gustavo Petro indicated that in the event of an attack by neighboring Venezuela by the United States, her armed forces could help her.

The US will use funds

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt last week on whether the United States is planning to deploy soldiers to Venezuela said that President Trump “is ready to use all the means of American power to prevent drug supply to the country”.

According to Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnella, the fight against drugs requires “the effort of the whole government and thorough coordination with regional partners”. Parnell claims that Trump is trying to “eliminate the ability of these cartels to threaten the territory and security of the US”.

In early August, the US doubled the reward for Madurovo’s detention to $ 50 million. The Venezuelan President accused the United States of trying to change the regime in his country and launched a nationwide campaign to recruit thousands of militia members.
