Brasília (DF), 16/01/2025 – Bank application for financial payment in Pix.

Sinqia, a Brazilian company that provides infrastructure for financial operations, was the target of a cyber attack that resulted in the deviation of approximately R $ 420 million through the system. The incident, confirmed by the company on Friday (30), affected a limited number of financial institutions and raised alerts about the security of the technology chain that supports the instant payment system in Brazil. Among the main affected by the attack are HSBC Brazil, which had about R $ 380 million diverted, and Artta, a direct credit company, with estimated losses of R $ 40 million. Of this total, R $ 350 million have already been recovered through rapid block and tracking actions.

According to information from Sinqia herself, the attack was detected at dawn on Friday, when suspicious activities were identified in the Pix environment. As an immediate measure, the company isolated the affected system and disconnected its central bank operations, temporarily interrupting transfers via Pix. Sinqia has stated that it is reconstructing the affected environment with new security systems and reinforced monitoring, and that air return will only occur after the Central Bank approval. In a statement, the company ensured that “there is no evidence that personal data has been compromised,” and said its other operations continue to work normally.
