
Details about Hyundai’s “Dolphin” arrive in September. While we wait, Elon Musk’s Tesla bends before the Chinese dominion by BYD.
A Hyundai will present, in the coming weeks, its new electric that promises to rival with the BYD Dolphinone of the best selling electric in the world. The new model should be revealed during the IAA Mobility Show, which will be held in Munich, Germany, from September 9 to 14.
For now, the new compact has no official name, but it is possible that it will be called Ioniq 2 and position yourself above inster, comparable to the Fiat Mobi, but below the Bayon SUV. Thus, the novelty of the South Korean brand should resemble HB20, but in an electric version.
The images already released by the manufacturer indicate that the model will have a slightly bent hood and a robust front bumper, with a large front grill.
Official details of the new car’s motorization or autonomy have not yet been revealed, but the “Hyundai Dolphin” is expected to use the E-GMP platform, the same applied to models such as Kia EV2 and EV3.
IONIQ 2 should reach the market in 2026.
Tesla sales are still falling in Europe
Tesla’s sales remain falling in Europe, while rival Byd records rapid growth and already surpasses the American in several markets. According to data released by the European Association of Automobile Manufacturers (Acea) cited by, in July Tesla registered 8,837 new enrollment on the continent, a 40% break compared to the same month of 2024. Already the BYD reached 13,503 enrollments, one 225% increaseconquering 1.2% of the market share, against only 0.8% of Tesla.
The sector’s turn signal came in May, when BYD exceeded Tesla for European sales for the first time. Since then, the Chinese company has consolidated its position, reinforcing leadership in the electric vehicle market (BEV) and approaching the world’s largest manufacturer in the sector.
The numbers confirm the trend: between January and July, Tesla’s enrollment fell more than 33% in Europe, while BYD those fired 290%.
