The president of the European Commission, renewed at a press conference alongside Poland Prime Minister Donald Tusk, criticism of the president of, and warned about the need for the European Union (EU) to reinforce its defenses. “We have to maintain a sense of urgency because we know that Putin has not changed and will not change. He is a predator,” he said, adding that in the last 25 years he has started four wars – Chechnya, Georgia, Crimea and. “We know, from experience, that it can only be contained through a strong dissuasion,” he said.

Von der Leyen stressed that countries need to be “precise and fast coordinated” with increasing defense mainly in the front line states. She pointed out that the EU Member States with a direct border with Russia and Belarus will receive additional European Union funding.

The president of the European Commission also stated that in the coming weeks will be prepared a script on how to invest additional money for defense in the European Union, in the defense stance. “We will analyze the gaps we have in the European Union and how to fill them by 2030 with goals, with milestones, because only what is measured is done.”

She ended the speech by saying that Europe has to be strong in defense posture. “We have to invest in the protection of our borders, but also in military capabilities and well -equipped and trained armed forces, it applies to safety guarantees for Ukraine,” he said.
