The governor (Republicans) said in a cocktail at the residence of the consulate of the EM, on the night of Monday (26), that the rates imposed by Brazil will make the country approach China.
The speech was a warning to US government representatives present at the meeting. The event was a reception to Brian Kemp, governor of Georgia, which is in a turnover by Brazilian and Argentine companies that have business in the state.
Kemp is Republican from the same party as Trump, but not part of the Make America Great Again group, made up of the president’s most faithful supporters. He even criticized Trump in 2020, although he declared support for his candidacy last year. After Tarcisio’s speech, he said he was concerned about the subject of tariffs and reported that governors should meet with Trump to discuss the issue, according to reports made to Sheet.
Tarcisio’s gesture occurs days after the disclosure of messages between (-SP) and his father (PL), in which dialogue with the US government.
On the visit to South America, Kemp will also go to Argentina. Its script includes visits to JBS, Taurus, CSN (Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional), Embraer and Argentine companies. He did not post about the meeting with Tarcisio.
On the Georgia government page, announcing the trip, Kemp said that since 2019, when he has so far assumed South American investments have generated a thousand jobs in their state.
Tarcisio, in turn, posted a photo with a hand grip with his colleague and said that “we had the opportunity to discuss the current scenario of relations between Brazil and the United States and highlight the importance of diplomacy and international dialogue.” He added that “this exchange is fundamental to strengthen friendships and cooperation, expanding partnerships that bring concrete results to São Paulo and Brazil.”
Tarcísio, which is considered the main name of the center right to run for presidency against next year, in business forums in which he participates.
On the morning of Wednesday (27), in another international agenda, Tarcísio receives in the palace the Minister of International Trade of Canada, Manander Sidhu – a country that has also been facing difficulties arising from the imposition of tariffs by the Trump government and seeking new markets.
