Belgium has registered spring and summer drier since 1921

Belgium registered the drier period between March 1 and August 31, 2025 since 1921, according to the Royal Institute of Meteorology.

Belgium recorded, in 2025, the period between March 1 and 31 August dried since 1921, the Royal Institute of Meteorology (IRM) released this Monday.

According to Brish, the dry summer of 2025 follows the drier spring of the current current reference period (1991-2020).

During these two combined stations, only 184.4 millimeters (mm) of rain (compared to 399.8 mm on average in the reference period) fell.

The period between March 1, 2025 and August 31, 2025 is still the second drier since 1892, the year since there have been records in Belgium, after 1921, when there were 133.5 mm of precipitation.

From the beginning of the season, on June 21, and until August 31, two heat vacancies have been registered: from July 28 to July 2 and between 10 and 15 August.

With regard to the average value of maximum temperatures in the period 1991-2020, the current summer registered 24.3 ° C, with a maximum of 24.7ºC in 2022, and higher than the normal value (22.5ºC).

The average value of the minimum temperature (14.2 ° C) was also higher than normal (13.4 ° C) and the second highest (14.8ºC in 2018).
