The European Union Commissioner (EU) in defense and space, Andrius Kubilius, said in a publication in X that the European economic bloc will reinforce the efficiency of detecting GPS interference after the episode involving the plane of the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen, Bulgaria.

According to him, the block will expand the low orbit satellite network “for more robustness” and will improve interference detection.

Kubilius recalled that the European project Galileo already offers an authentication service to detect spoofing, handling GPS signs to fool receivers, and stressed that practices such as blocking and manipulating signals “harm our aerial, sea and transportation economies.”
