Gabriel Bortoleto, sauber pilot, revealed that his car suffered problems in the clutch during the start of the Holland’s Grand Prix Formula 1this Sunday (31). The pilot finished the race in 15th position and did not add points in the driver World Cup.
In an interview with TV Bandeirantes After the race, the Brazilian, who and fell to last in the first lap, explained what happened in the starting procedure. For, your proof was affected by the bad start.
“I think, honestly, the race was already very affected at the start. We had a problem in the clutch, that I need to talk to my engineers. When I let go the clutch looks like the car had no energy, I don’t know, power, and the car got,” he began.
“It has happened a few times, but usually, leaving the pits, when you have just turned on the car, it still has some related energy issue and it comes out very slow. It seems that the same thing happened, I need to see with the team, because I still couldn’t talk to anyone,” said Gabriel.
Below, the Brazilian denied a possible activation of the anti-stall (mechanism that prevents the car off) during the start of the race.
“No, no. I didn’t hit the anti-stall. I did the correct procedure. It was only, literally, something that happened that the car was not (dropped). I had no power to release. Then I went to last at the start, and we didn’t give much luck, ”said the pilot.
Problems during running and strategy
Following, he commented on his performance in the Netherlands race. The Brazilian lamented the strategy problems during the race and explained the touch of Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll car during the first lap. The incident caused damage to the Brazilian bolide.
“When I entered Pit Stop, I did the pit stop and entered the safety car. There it was no longer ideal. I had the touch with the stroll. I think I tried to hold the position, braked inside and ended up leaning against him. It broke my wing, so there already had a damage that is not ideal for the race, ”he began.
“Then we stopped in safety car. And then, in the last (safety car), we decided to stay out. I don’t know, I need to analyze and understand exactly. I understood that it was for us to try to keep the position on the track, but it was a little clear that with the new tire people behind, it was kind of impossible to hold on when you have a 30 -lap tire, ”said Gabriel.
“But that’s it, it’s a pity. Running is just like that, there’s not much to do. Technical problems happen. Today was not our day, and we go to the next one, in Monza. It’s thinking positive and forward,” concluded Bortoleto.
