Policing at Praça dos Três Powers, in Brasilia, will be reinforced from this Monday (1) due to the trial in the do and seven more defendants for attempted coup of state after the 2022 elections. Safety in the central area of the federal capital will be reinforced with an integrated operation between the Federal District Public Security and the Effective Judicial Police that holds the STF custody. A cell with the two integrated staff will be installed in the Three Powers Square.
Policing was expanded on the access roads to the square. By STF decision, camps and obstructions are prohibited in the area. The operation will feature constant scan of thermal image drones. Policing will be reinforced on Sunday, September 7, when independence day celebrations are scheduled. Of the 31 defendants in the STF for attempted coup d’état after the 2022 elections, eight are part of the so -called “nucleus 1” or “crucial core”. According to the PGR, the main decisions of the attempted institutional rupture departed from them. On Tuesday, 2, the ministers of the First Class of the Supreme start the final judgment of the criminal action of this core, which may condemn or acquit the eight defendants.
They are accused of five crimes: armed criminal organization, coup d’état, attempted violent abolition of the democratic state, deterioration of listed assets and qualified damage against the union’s heritage. The analysis of the case runs until the 12th. More than 3,000 people were present to accompany the judgment of the “crucial core” of the coup plot. According to the Supreme Court, “150 places were made available to the general public in the second class session room.” By space limitation, the court will accept only the first 1,200 first citizens who signed up for a total of 3,357.
The other interested parties, who were not selected to accompany the trial inside the Supreme Court, will be able to attend the sessions on the outside, in a space with screen, where will also be allowed to enter cameramen and photographers.
