UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed outrage at the situation
Rebels 11 employees of this Sunday (31), after invading the organization’s facilities in Yemen, said the United Nations envoy to that country, Hans Grundberg. “Energy condemn the new wave of arbitrary arbitrary UN employees in Sanaa and Hodeida, as well as the forced operation at the organization’s facilities and the confiscation of their assets. At least 11 employees were arrested,” Grundberg said, who demanded his immediate release.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed indignation: “Energy condemn the arbitrary arrests of at least 11 United Nations employees by the Authorities of Fact Houthis in Yemen under their control.
Houthi authorities did not comment on the operation. On other occasions, foreign employees of help agencies have detained. In a prior statement, PAM reported that offices on this UN agency in Sanaa had been “taken by local security forces, who detained an employee,” and that there was “information from more arrests in other regions.” Houthis took the capital of Yemen, Sanaa, in 2014, and currently control much of the country.
After this week’s Israeli bombing in the capital, which killed Houthis supported by Iran, an Yemeni security source reported that Houthi authorities had detained dozens of people in Sanaa and other areas, “on suspicion of collaboration with Israel.”
