Russia is suspected of interfering with Von Der Leyen’s GPS radar on Bulgaria

The aircraft has landed safely at Plovdiv airport and the president of the European Commission will continue her planned four -day tour of the EU nations bordering the Russians and Belarus

Bulgaria issued a statement saying that “the satellite signal used for the aircraft’s GPS navigation was interrupted”

An airplane carrying the president of the European Commission, executive arm of (EU), was hit by GPS interference as he fly over Bulgaria in a suspicious operation of Russia, a spokesman said on Monday (1). The plane has landed safely at Plovdiv and Von Der Leyen airport will continue its planned four-day tour of the European Union nations bordering Russia and Belarus, commission spokesman Arianna Podestà said. “We can, in fact, confirm that there was interference with GPS,” said Podestà. “We received information from the Bulgarian authority that they suspect this was due to a flagrant interference from Russia.”

Podestà commented that von der Leyen saw “firsthand the daily challenges of threats from Russia and their systems” during his trip. “And of course, the EU will continue to invest in defense spending and the readiness of Europe even more after this incident,” he added. Bulgaria issued a statement saying “the satellite signal used for aircraft GPS navigation was interrupted as the aircraft approached Plovdiv airport, the GPS signal was lost.”
