Green, blue, yellow. That you already use sorted waste containers without any special reflection? But in recent years, even in Czech municipalities, there were a few. And you can sort more and more efficiently. “They can reduce the amount of mixed waste by more than half,” says Renata Placková in a podcast.
You can listen to the podcast not only about sorting waste here:
It is really much easier to start even more consistently and in larger quantities than ever. You can think about what you throw away, where and why. “It’s not just because of ecology. When you carefully sort the waste, you will use all the options, its total amount drops. So you can have mixed waste less frequently, which means you will save money,” Says the environmental advisor Renata Placková from the Ecological Institute Veronica. For example, thanks to one of the following waste components.
Bio -waste
“It’s a third to half of your mixed waste and the only one you can process at home,” explains the expert. “And you create a great fertilizer from the waste.” Of course, it is really time to start it. Feel free to the balcony. But even in a small urban apartment you do not have to resign at the sorting of biowaste, today you can order a biopian today in most cities without problems and especially free of charge. You just need to look at what they belong to – certainly not everything you would sort into compost.
Metals
You will not find a gray container, which clearly suggests what it belongs to, on every corner. But there are still more and more. And where they are not, you may not have noticed. Some municipalities allow metals to sort into yellow containers along with plastics and tetra-pacios. In any case, this is an ideal place for all cans and yogurt lids. But even more importantly, it is to think about whether you really needed the packaging – just metal recycling is quite energy and financially demanding and so even if it is better to sort them out, even better not to throw them away.
Paper
What? After all, the paper is sorted long ago. Of course. But for a few years, there have been a few changes, so maybe you don’t have what you could have long ago. Let’s make it clear. Oily papers and paper towels, puffs and similar pieces do not belong to the blue container. Like receipts from the so -called thermocitive paper. AND On the contrary, you can easily throw recycled paper into it – described workbooks, toilet paper rolls and egg packaging. They can also be reused.
Used oils and fats
Cuttings, fryer, Christmas carp. Sure, he has no such taste or smell in the pan. But did you know that similar oil used must not be poured into the sink, toilet or elsewhere into the sewer? You have two options to dispose. If you compost, let it cool down, then soak into sawdust or napkins or kitchen towels and go with it into the compost. But you can handle it without it. Precisely because it is not permissible to dispose of fats or oils otherwise, today is provided by municipalities, mostly at regular collection points, purple containers where these fluids belong. You do not have to clean or modify them. Just pour them into a plastic bottle (may not be full) and throw away.
Gastroodpad
His sorting is not yet mandatory for households. However, his collection will come soon, very probably since the beginning of 2028, and therefore many municipalities have been launching so -called pilot projects for gastric collection. “In recent years, more biogas stations have been created that are processing gastro -waste,” says an expert. “They are collected in special tight containers, from which the odor does not spread or nothing. And I’m really happy about it, because it means processing other household remnants.” At the same time, it repeats that it is much better not to create similar waste at all. So plan, process and try not to throw away food unnecessarily.
