Bolsonaro says he does not intend to attend the Supreme Court and follows the session remotely

The former president appeared on Tuesday (2) outside his residence, in, and briefly responded to journalists who were at the scene. Asked if he was following the trial at, Bolsonaro said, “I’m following.” According to reports, he walked from side to side inside the parking lot of the house, near vehicles and security, but without leaving to speak directly to the press. The former president stressed that he does not intend to attend the Supreme Court and follow the session remotely.

Before the appearance, Bolsonaro received two of his children: Councilman Jair Renan Bolsonaro and Rio de Janeiro councilor Carlos Bolsonaro. Senator Flávio Bolsonaro remained in the Federal Senate, attending a security committee hearing.

Allied parliamentarians criticized the trial. Deputy Captain Alden questioned the security scheme set up in Brasilia and compared with the events of 8 January. According to him, justice was being used as a “instrument of persecution.” Deputy Evair de Melo, on the other hand, classified the process as a “modern Inquisition”, marked by censorship, abuse of power and political persecution. Another ally, Deputy José, said the action represents an “electoral coup” to prevent Jair Bolsonaro from competing in the 2026 presidential elections.
