Tuesday’s session will be marked by reading the case by Judge Alexandre de Moraes, followed by Attorney General Paulo Gonet, who will present the evidence that underlies the prosecution.
The accusation points out that Jair Bolsonaro was the “main articulator” and leader of the coup plan, which included a plan to murder Lula da Silva and other authorities, such as Judge Alexandre de Moraes, with the prosecutor to substantiate his arguments through audios, meetings, documents, testimonies and the confession of the former Bolsonaro assistant, Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid.
The former assistant stated that the former Brazilian chief received, read and modified a decree to declare the state of siege, reverse the electoral victory of Lula da Silva and arrest STF judges.
The Public Prosecution Service states that after the failure of initial plans, the accused incited the invasion of the headquarters of the three powers, when, on January 8, 2023, a week after the inauguration of Lula da Silva, thousands of radicals attacked the headquarters of the Legislative, Executive and Judiciary, demanding that the armed forces overthrow the new government.
Bolsonaro himself acknowledged that he probed constitutional “alternatives” because he felt justice damaged him in the last elections, but always denied that he wanted to “blow” because, for that, he said, “streets of war tanks” would be needed.
