The CEO of Polish paving Drogbruk, Piotr Szczerek, apologized publicly after being caught on video taking a boy’s cap during US Open, in an episode that went viral and generated ample negative repercussion on social networks.

In a statement issued on the company’s official social networks, Szczerek called the act as a “serious mistake” and said he returned the cap to the child.

According to Szczerek, there was confusion at the time of the incident. He believed that Polish tennis player Kamil Majchrzak, who had just won a five -set match, was passing the cap to him, to give his children, who had previously asked for autographs.
