September is an important time in the orchard, and many beginner gardeners in Poland forget about it. Attention should now be devoted to fruit trees that require adequate protection in the form of a special traps, more precisely apple trees.
They are put on to catch pests that go around the trunks. They are e.g. caterpillars or female pierce, which leave the crown of the tree to hide for the winter. After a few weeks, they should be removed and burned, so that their use brings results in the form of limiting their population in the orchard.

As we just mentioned, apple trees and other fruit trees against pests It is assumed to limit the pest population, whose larvae wanders down the trunk up towards the crown or down, trying to find the right place to winter.
They can be used at different dates. In the case of Jabłonki, this can take place both in summer (at the turn of June and July to fight apple fruit) and in autumn, when the piercoma or winter tires become a threat.
Both wavy (cardboard) and cardboard bands LEAMS BRADES (FILE TAPS COVERING ALLING SUBSTANCE) On Jabłonek’s trunks have their advantages. Therefore, it cannot be clearly stated which of them are better.
- Cardboard bands on the tree trunks
You can make them yourself, using old cartons, e.g. after household appliances, or buy ready -made corrugated cardboard in a roll in the store. You also need a string to tie them on the tree.
The cardboard bands have an uneven, folded structure that provides insects with a “pleasant shelter“, so they are eager to hide in them, thus saving the bark of real trees. When they fill with pests, remove them from apple trees and destroy (unless there are also useful insects there).
- Sticky bands on the tree trunks
The stick bands have a slightly different effect, because Pests just stick to them. They are more effective because they will not go through them and they do not need to be attached. Unfortunately, in this case you no longer save useful insects, because they will all die.

Placing the bands on fruit tree trunks is simple. Just stick or tie them, depending on the selected type of trap. Before putting it on, however, it is worth scraping the cracked bark first so that the pests do not hide in it.
In addition, remember to keep the right dimensions of the band if you prepare it yourself from corrugated cardboard/ cardboard. It should be about 20-25 cm wide and 50-100 cm high. It also does not hurt to use the double layer of materialand the string should be placed both at the bottom and top so that the trap does not slip.
