The presenter Fátima Bernardes62, reacted to the announcement of departure from the ex-husband William Bonner61, from the “Jornal Nacional” bench, announced on Monday (1st).
The journalist announced his farewell on the same date that the newscast turns 56. He is the presenter with longer ahead of “JN”, accumulating 29 years in charge and 26 years as editor-in-chief.
“Cheers to everyone in the new phases of his career. And congratulations, William Bonner, for his story so far,” wrote Fatima, who was married for 26 years with the presenter, in the program’s Instagram comments.
Bonner will remain at the presentation until November 3, when he will be replaced by César Tralliwhich will divide the bench with Renata Vasconcellos. The transition is part of a gradual planning that has been prepared by Globo and the journalist in the last five years.
From 2026, William Bonner will leave the executive and daily functions of “Jornal Nacional” to dedicate himself to the program “Globo Repórter”, where Sandra Annenberg will join. The goal is to reduce your workload to have more time with family and personal projects.
In the role of editor-in-chief, Bonner will be replaced by Cristiana Sousa Cruz, current deputy editor-in-chief and Bonner’s partner for six years. She assumes the leadership of the team responsible for the production of the newscast.
