A federal judge from the United States has decided on Tuesday that Google may continue to offer its Chrome browser, but will be forbidden to enter into exclusive contracts and should share search data with competitors.
The decision is part of one, which accuses the company of maintaining an illegal monopoly in the internet search market.
In August 2024, the Washington District Court had already determined that Google violated Section 2 of a law that prohibits monopolies by maintaining its dominant position in the search market.

The company, however, has announced that it will appeal the decision, which may delay the application of any sanctions.
The process points out that Google has created significant barriers for the entry of competitors, maintaining a feedback cycle that reinforces its leadership.
The company argues that it faces strong competition and that drastic changes could affect national security, given the importance of its services.
