The salary award attributed to young workers as a form of return of the fees, relating to requests submitted in 2024, will be paid at the end of the second week of September, the Tax and Customs Authority (AT) released.

“It is expected to be paid at the end of the second week of September, pursuant to article 3 of Decree-Law No. 134/2023, of December 28, and in Article 4 of Ordinance No. 67-A/2024, of 22 February, the salary prize relating to the requests presented in 2024, provided that the respective requirements are met”, in a note published on the AT ‘website.

In August, the public newspaper had reported that the payment of the salary prize, which should have been paid by the end of July, had not yet been made, adding that the form for new support candidates had not yet been opened.

On the government page for the salary prize, a message is published where it states: “At this moment, new requests are not accepted for the Qualifications Salary Award. The deadline for submitting orders in 2025 has not yet been announced,” said Lusa Agency.

This incentive was created by the government of António Costa in 2023 to allow young workers, until the year they are 35 years old, can ask the state to return the tuition fees as recognition of the completion of the degree or the master’s degree.

The prize is paid every year by the Tax and Customs Authority (until July 30 of each year), during the number of years equivalent to the study cycle that led to the attribution of the academic degree.

In the case of a degree, the amount paid is 697 euros and, in the master’s degree, of 1,500 euros (in an integrated master’s degree, the years corresponding to the degree entitled to 697 euros and those for the master’s degree to the same 1,500 euros).
