Stopping negotiations
Negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program between Tehran and Washington began in April and failed in mid -June, when Israel attacked Iranian nuclear facilities by air. The United States was also briefly involved in the conflict.
Tehran suspended cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (MAAE) after the attacks and demanded guarantees not to repeat further air raids before continuing nuclear negotiations with the US.

According to US Minister of Foreign Affairs Marc Rubia, the US is looking for “a permanent solution to the Iranian nuclear question” and “activation of the Snapback mechanism does not contradict the sincere readiness (US) to diplomacy, but only strengthens it”.
Concerns about armaments
Western countries are afraid that the Iranian uranium enrichment program could provide the necessary material for the production of a nuclear warhead, which would be brought to the destination by a ballistic missile developed under the rocket program. Iran claims that its nuclear program is intended only for civilian purposes.
