President declared 3 days of official mourning in the country; Journalist died this 3rd (2.Set) at 91
Politicians used social networks to regret the founder of CartaCapital. Letter died in the early hours of this Thursday (2.Set.2025), at 91 years. In his, the president (PT) declared official mourning of 3 days across the country.
Mino had been hospitalized for two weeks in the ICU (Intensive Treatment Unit) of the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital in Sao Paulo. The journalist had faced health problems for 1 year. The cause of death was not disclosed.
“I met Mino for almost 50 years, when he, for the first time, highlighted the weekly magazines for the struggles that we workers gathered in the trade union movement were doing for better living conditions, social justice and democracy”, wrote the petista.
“These decades of coexistence give me the certainty that Mino has been – and always will be – a reference for Brazilian journalism for his courage, critical spirit and commitment to a fair and equal country for all Brazilians”He added.
Mino Carta (1933-2025) was an Italo-Brazilian journalist and participated in the founding of some of the country’s main communication vehicles. Worked on the creation of the magazine Four wheels and from Jornal da Tardein 1966. It was the 1st Writing Director of the magazine Lookin 1968, and also helped to launch the That isin 1976. In 1994, he founded the CartaCapitalwhere he remained to death.
Throughout his career, he acted in times of transformation of the Brazilian press and was responsible for changes in language and editorial format. Also published fiction books, such as Amber castle (2000) e The shadow of silence (2003).
The vice president and minister of industry and commerce (PSB) also spoke out about the journalist’s death. In his X profile, he stated that “Brazil has lost today one of its greatest journalists”.
