Lula will appear to the funeral of Mino Carta in São Paulo

O canceled agendas with ministers scheduled for this Tuesday (2) to attend the in São Paulo. Editor of the Estadão Sports Book and founder of Carta Capital magazine, Carta died at the age of 91 this morning. According to the Secretariat of Social Communication (Secom), Lula will leave for São Paulo with scheduled arrival at Congonhas Airport for 14:30. His presence at the wake, in the São Paulo Cemetery, will be at 15:15. The return to the federal capital must be at 18:15.

Because of the death ofLula canceled a meeting with Secom Minister Sidônio Palmeira, which should take place at 9am, and a meeting with ministers Camilo Santana (Education), Esther Dweck (Management and Innovation) and André Fufuca (sports), where the creation of the University of Sports would be discussed. The only agenda maintained was a Lula meeting with Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, advanced to 9am.

In a publication in the X, Lula lamented the death of Mino Carta, stating that he was a reference to Brazilian journalism for his “courage” and “critical spirit.” The president also announced that he will decree three days of official mourning. “If today we live in a solid democracy, if our institutions are able to overcome authoritarian threats today, much of this is due to the work of this true humanist, the publications he directed and the professionals he graduated,” Lula said.
