In a publication in the X, Lula lamented the death of Mino Carta, stating that he was a reference to Brazilian journalism for his “courage” and “critical spirit.” The president also announced that he will decree three days of official mourning. “If today we live in a solid democracy, if our institutions are able to overcome authoritarian threats today, much of this is due to the work of this true humanist, the publications he directed and the professionals he graduated,” Lula said.
