Lawyers of the defendants of the coup plot have been in recent weeks with ministers of the First Class of the Supreme Federal Court (STF). The meetings occurred days before the trial of the criminal action that analyzes whether there was an attempt to coup d’état, in which former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and seven allies are defendants.
These meetings between lawyers and STF ministers before important judgments are common. In them, defenders present their positions and, in some cases, deliver documents for analysis. Part of the meetings takes place at the STF white hall, during the intervals between the sessions.
Matheus Milanez, who defends former Minister Augusto Heleno (Institutional Security Office), and Eumar Novacki, responsible for the defense of former Minister Anderson Torres (Justice), met, at separate times, with three ministers: Alexandre de Moraes (Rapporteur), Cristiano Zanin and Flávio Dino.

Demostenes Torres, lawyer of former Navy commander Almir Garnier Santos, and Andrew Fernandes Farias, who acts in defense of former Minister Paulo Sérgio Nogueira (defense), also reported meeting with part of the ministers of the first class.
The defendants of the eight defendants called for the acquittal of their clients in the final allegations of the process. The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) defends the condemnation of all.
The trial starts on Tuesday, in the first class, and is scheduled to last until September 12, in eight sessions divided into five days.
