A landslide destroyed a village in Darfur, Sudan, and killed at least a thousand people, the rebel group controls the region on Monday night.

The tragedy took place on Sunday, 31, in the village of Tarasin, in the Marrah mountains, after days of heavy rains. “The village was completely devastated. Only one person survived,” says the statement of the Sudan’s liberation army.

The group appealed to the United Nations (UN) and the international community for help in the recovery of bodies.
