The Supreme Court Minister (STF), authorized the defense of the general minister of the Bolsonaro government’s GSI (institutional security office), using slides during oral support in the trial that begins on Tuesday (2). The decision was published on Sunday (31).

According to the determination, the defense should forward audiovisual material until fifteen hours of Monday (1st) for the technical evaluation of the Court. Moraes pointed out that the presentation can only be displayed after the technical adequacy conference. “The defense of Augusto Heleno Ribeiro Pereira must send to the Secretariat of the First Class the material to be presented in oral support by 1/9, at 15h00, to verify the technical adequacy,” wrote the minister.

The trial involves the so-called core 1 of the coup attempt after the 2022 elections, considered by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) as the crucial group for the alleged attempted institutional rupture. In addition to Heleno, seven other defendants, including former President Jair Bolsonaro, will be analyzed by the First Class of the Supreme Court.

Defendants are responsible for crimes related to the attempted coup d’état, based on PGR investigations on public machine use and ballot attacks. The trial marks the beginning of the analysis of the “crucial core” of the case, expecting intense debates in the Supreme in the next sessions.
