Belgrade – Tens of thousands of Serbs have requested new elections in Belgrade. On Monday, the demonstrators silently passed through the capital to commemorate the death of 16 people who died in the collapse of the roof of a renovated train station. Sixteen high school students walked across the Savski TRG with a white rose in the hand, while the names of the victims were read out. The demonstrators blame corruption for the disaster in Novi Sad’s station, and demand early elections to overthrow President Aleksandar Vučić and his party. Protests also took place in several other cities, including Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Aleksinac.
