Chicago-Thousands of people protested against the threat of President Donald Trump in the US metropolis of Chicago on Monday to send the National Guard and employees of the ICE immigration authority to the city. The demonstrators were singing on the US holiday Labor Day and with posters through the city center. Mayor Brandon Johnson swore the crowd to oppose an intervention by federal authorities. “This is the city that will defend the country,” he said under the cheers of the demonstrators. The organizers estimated the number of participants at 5000 to 10,000. The rally was part of around a thousand nationwide protests under the motto “Workers before billionaires”.
