Vasco’s midfielder Jair was diagnosed with a serious injury to his right knee after suffering a sprain during the victory of the Rio team over Sport last Sunday (31), on Retiro Island. The player performed image exams, which revealed extensive damage to ligaments and menisci. The information was confirmed on Tuesday (2).
The incident occurred in the first half of the match. At 32 minutes, Jair was hit by a cart from Sport midfielder Matheusinho. Despite the strength of the bid, referee Raphael Claus did not signal.
Minutes after the shock, the match was interrupted for medical care behind the wheel, which seemed to be a lot of pain on the lawn. Jair was unable to continue in the game and was replaced by Mateus Carvalho.

According to the medical report released by Vasco, Jair suffered injury in the anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament, as well as damage to menisci and an osteochondral injury (problem that affects bone and cartilage).
The club chose not to disclose a specific deadline for the athlete’s return, as often happens in cases of such injuries. Nevertheless, due to the severity of the injury, Jair is expected to lose what remains of the season.
