Lawyer José Luís Mendes de Oliveira Lima, who represents the former Minister of Defense and Civil House Walter Braga Netto, provided solidarity with the Supreme Court for the attacks of Bolsonarists to the Supreme Court and said that the disagreements that will present in his oral demonstration do not mean support for these attacks.

Lima’s statement will disassociate Braga Netto’s defense of former President Jair Bolsonaro’s most radical supporters.

“In every opportunity I have as a lawyer and citizen, I will provide solidarity with the STF and its members that this Court has been receiving. I have no doubt that the greatness of this Court and your excellence has already surpassed these attacks,” he said, early in his speech.

Lima remembered the monthly and said there was a “frantic” coverage, but “at no time did this court suffered recent attacks.” “I find it inadmissible, as a lawyer, I have no way to be quiet,” he said.

Addressing Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case and the main target of attacks by pockets, he said: “The fact that you have diverged from decisions of you not to say, at any time, that I welcome the attacks that were made to you. You have passed, present and future.”

The lawyer said his client “is innocent.” “Who says that? It is not this lawyer, it is the case, the evidence produced, the witnesses and the numerous documents attached to this process,” he said.

He also stated that the general has “40 years of services rendered without any macula” and that his condemnation, as proposed by the Attorney General’s Office, may mean that he will be arrested for the rest of his life.

“On this date, the moment I am here, emotion increases because I am defending a man of 40 years of services provided, without any macula in his career, and if the complaint is accepted as proposed by the prosecutor, this man, who is 69, will spend the rest of his life in the jail,” he said.
