Kaja Kallas, head of European diplomacy, warns of China’s support to the Russian War, criticizes section in Beijing and charges more unity in Europe in the face of crises such as Gaza
The meeting in Beijing among China’s leaders, Xi Jinping, Russia, Vladimir Putin, and North Korea, Kim Jong Un, represents a “direct challenge to the international order,” Kaja Kallas, Kaja Kallas, said on Wednesday (3). According to her, the meeting does not only send signs of opposition to the West, but challenges the international system based on standards. “The Russian War in Ukraine has the support of China. These are realities that Europe needs to face,” Kallas, former Minister of Estonia, said in Brussels speech.
In the same speech, she warned of risks to global balance and argued that Europe takes a more active role on the international scene. Kallas pointed out that “China and Russia talk about promoting changes never seen in a century in world security architecture.”
The diplomat also criticized the joint presence of Putin, Kim and Xi in a parade in Beijing, which he classified as a demonstration of military and diplomatic strength. “They project a vision of peace through the pipe of a rifle. This is not what peace means to Europe,” he said. During the event, Xi Jinping described his country as “unbeatable”.

Kallas also referred to the conflict in Gaza, which he classified as an example of the lack of European unit. According to her, the European Union did not use all its geopolitical power and therefore failed to position itself effectively. The diplomat called for “political courage” to the 27 countries of the bloc, which to this day have not reached consensus on imposing sanctions on Israel, despite denouncing the “catastrophic” humanitarian situation after nearly two years of war.
