Asking for a taxpayer invoice has become a common habit, associated with the idea that each expense can represent a savings in the IRS. The procedure is simple: when inserting the NIF, the purchase is automatically registered on the Finance Portal and can translate into tax deductions at the end of the year. However, this record does not always have a practical impact. There are limits defined by category and, once affected, asking for more invoices no longer adds any benefit.
According to Portal Forever Young, associating the NIF with expenses remains important, especially in areas with direct tax benefits, but there are situations where the result is null, even if the invoice is recorded.
When asking, it brings benefits
Sectors, such as health, education, restoration, car workshops, hairdressers and homes allow relevant percentages in IRS. Here, asking for an invoice with NIF is critical. The Best Value Accounting Company points out that for each category there is an annual ceiling: 1,000 euros in health, 800 euros in education, 296 euros in housing, 403.75 euros in homes, 250 euros in gyms and 250 euros in family general expenses.
It also writes the company that, in addition to these deductions, it is possible to recover 15% of VAT in expenses such as public transport, accommodation, restoration or workshops. Invoices with NIF also give automatic access to the invoice of luck, a public campaign that draws awards among taxpayers.
When it makes no difference
The site also states that, in clothing purchases, appliances or technology, the benefit is limited to the general deduction of 250 euros per aggregate, which is quickly achieved. From there, asking for new invoices no longer increases the deduction.
In addition, some categories, such as fuels, are subject to their own rules and specific limits.
Impact not fiscal system
Note that, according to Best Value, asking for an invoice with NIF is not for the state to control the spending of citizens in detail. The goal is to reduce dropout and parallel economy, contributing to a more balanced fiscal system.
The company recalls that no trader can refuse the taxpayer’s issuance. If the first has already been issued without NIF, it is possible to annul it and issue a new one. Asking for an invoice is thus a gesture that can bring direct benefits to the taxpayer and, at the same time, reinforce the transparency of the system, even if there are times when there is no benefit to consumers.
