A computer error at a plenergy gas station in Alfafar, Valencia has turned a normal weekend into a true race to “black gold.” Gasoline was announced, by mistake, about 13 cents per liter, a price that quickly spread and attracted a crowd of drivers.
In a few minutes, the site was invaded by vehicles, generating long lines and traffic congestion that required police intervention to control the situation and ensure order.
Fernando Móner, president of the Valencian Association of Consumers and Users (Avacu), clarified the legality of the situation in statements to television Valenciana to Punt. According to Móner, although the price of 13 cents was clearly an error, responsibility fell on the establishment. “The law is clear: if a price is posted, the seller is required to fulfill it at the time of purchase,” he said. He added that once the error was corrected in the system, the gas station has no longer have this obligation to the following customers.
