In Lisbon, Portugal, the iconic Glónika Inonic cable car derailed, three people died

Three people died in the cable car accident in Lisbon. Approximately twenty people have suffered injuries and the condition of three of them is critical, according to the rescuers.

At least three people died on Wednesday in derailed and subsequent crash of the iconic Lisbon Cable Condage Glória. Approximately 20 people have suffered injuries, TASR writes according to Reuters and CNN Portugal.

There are dozens of rescuers in the images of the scene of the accident as they pull people out of the ruins of the demolished cable car. CNN Portugal states that of about twenty injured are at least three in critical condition. The cause of derailment has not yet been immediately known.

Tourists popular Lisbon cable car is similar to the tram and transports passengers up and down on the steep slopes of Lisbon. The cable car can transport 43 passengers at the same time.
