Rafael Brandão announced on Tuesday night (2) that he will not participate in the 2025 edition of Olympia, the most important and renowned championship of world bodybuilding.
Most prominent Brazilian in Open’s history (where there is no weight limit) and current eighth place in the category in the tournament in question, he claims that the health problems he faced earlier this year, which affected his gastrointestinal tract, hindered their preparation.
In video, the bodybuilder points out that his coach, Neil “Yoda” Hill, saw the problem in question as an impediment to the competition, to which Brandão had already secured his place from the beginning.
By the will of the Brazilian, however, the two followed the work for Olympia 2025, but recently the fear of the British “coach” became a reality: the athlete could not present a better version than the physicist displayed in the previous season, which could be a hard blow to his career.
“The physicist didn’t evolve enough so I could climb positions,” says Brandão. He debuted at Olympia in 2022, when he was tenth. Although the expectation of the fans was a possible jurisdiction to the top6, their second participation last year represented the best place of a Brazilian in the history of the category.
In the same announcement where he said he was out of Olympia this year, Brandão also announced that he will be in the United States, near Yoda, until the 2026 edition of the Arnold Classic Ohio. The event, which honors Arnold Schwarzenegger and has what is considered as the second most important show in the world of bodybuilding. In 2024, the Brazilian also broke a national record by being with third position.
