The intended to close its office in Sao Paulo and concentrate all its administrative and political structure in Brasilia, where the national direction is already based. There is no expected date yet, but the idea is to occur until the beginning of 2026.
The project is not new, which took over the party in August. The goal is to cut costs and rationalize expenses.
The transfer would have a strong symbolic character, definitively cutting the party’s ties with Sao Paulo, its cradle, and prioritizing the National Center of Power.
Currently, the National PT maintains only one office in the neighborhood of Higienópolis, in São Paulo, where about 30 administrative employees work in areas such as finance, controllership and organization.
In 2023 the party’s historic headquarters was closed, near Sé Square, which housed the national board for more than three decades.
At the same time, OC in Brasilia. Today, the PT occupies three floors and the basement of the building. A fourth floor has recently been rented to absorb part of the structure that will be dismantled in the state capital.
Change is not simple, however, as it involves transfer of employees who have specific functions and difficult replacement. According to people linked to the party, it will be inevitable that part of the employees be fired, however.
