Starting scheduled for June 11, the 2026 World Cup will start the crowded ticket sales process next week.
Next Wednesday (10), will open by FIFA (International Football Federation) the first window for those interested in accompanying the matches to register to have the chance to buy the tickets-will be drawn to define who can purchase them.
First edition with 48 selections —16 more than at Qatar, in 2022 – the World Cup will have 104 matches, with the teams divided into 12 groups with four teams each. The first two of each key advances, with the 32 selections, facing the knockout matches.
The United States will house 78 games. Canada and Mexico will receive 13 each.
The search for tourists for tickets for competition next year will begin amid a hardening in the migratory politics adopted by the United States.
President Donald Trump recently prohibited citizens from 12 countries, except for those who have seen valid or permanent or double nationality.
The measure reaches Iran, one of the countries that have already secured a place in the World Cup. The veto provides for exceptions to players, technicians, employees and relatives of members of the Asian selection, but blocks the entry of fans.
President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino sought to reassure fans who want to travel to the United States for the World Cup.
“I think it’s important to clarify this, there are many mistaken ideas out there. Everyone will be welcome in Canada, Mexico and the United States. We are working exactly for that,” said the leader. “Of course there is a process to obtain visas. This process will be quiet.”
In late July, the US embassy in Brazil published an alert for those interested in watching the World Cup request visas for entry into the country as soon as possible.
According to FIFA, the expectation is to receive around 6.5 million fans during the competition.
On the official website for the commercialization of tickets, there is a recommendation for fans to record interest.
According to the entity, this record of interest ensures that they are informed about ticket sales dates, next steps and processes.
FIFA said there will be several distinct marketing phases, where there may be a difference in purchase processes, payment methods and benefits. Prices will still be released.
The embassy stated that the waiting time for visa interviews varies according to the demand, the availability of team, the locality and the type of visa requested. According to Daniel Toledo, a lawyer who works in the area of international law, the average time for an interview at the US Consulate in Sao Paulo currently ranges from about eight to ten months.
“This means that those who want to travel in 2026 need to plan as early as 2025 so as not to risk being without the document,” Toledo said.
The basic steps of the American visa request process are: the completion of the DS-160 form on the Embassy website; the payment of the consular fee (US $ 185, equivalent to R $ 1,003); Schedule of the interview at CASV (Visa Applicant Care Center) and the Consulate; and the face -to -face interview with the presentation of documents of bonds with Brazil, such as employment, income and real estate.
The consulate may also question the time of permanence, hosting, purchased passage and return plan. If the order is approved, the passport with the American visa is released within ten business days after the interview.
They are at greater risk of having the visa denied: people without proof of strong bonds with Brazil; Who has already exceeded the time of stay on previous trips; Criminal history requesters or lies in the interview; Conditioners who present inconsistencies between what they declare in the DS-160 and at the time of the interview; and young people without income, unemployed or in situations that indicate potential attempted irregular immigration.
Data from NTTO (National Travel and Tourism Office) indicate that about 1.2 million Brazilians visited the United States last year. Already Canada received approximately 120 thousand Brazilian tourists, according to Statistics Canada. Mexico recorded around 90,000 visitors from Brazil, according to data from the National Migración Institute.
“These numbers show the relevance of early preparation, as demand should be much higher in 2026 during the World Cup,” said Toledo.
He pointed out that Canada and Mexico also require visa for the entry of Brazilian tourists, with the need to fill out form, interview and presentation of documents proving bond with Brazil.
In the case of Canada, if the Brazilian has a valid American visa, he may only request the ETA electronic authorization.
“The main care is not to leave it to the last minute, as delays can compromise the trip,” said Toledo.
To date, 13 teams are confirmed in the World Cup. In addition to the three hostesses, ten reached their vacancies through the qualifying disputes. The Brazilian team secured its place in June.
