“Even in difficult times in finances, this investment shows that the state has priority in public safety and in this elite battalion that is a pride for Rio de Janeiro,” said the governor.
During an event at the Battalion headquarters, in the Laranjeiras neighborhood, in the south of Rio, the governor stressed that the funds will be invested in the acquisition of precision and intelligence equipment, 1,200 special uniforms, also in ballistic helmets, automatic weapons and a tactical robot for high -risk operations, capable of disarming explosives, performing recognition in dangerous areas and interacting in environments involving threats to people and heritages and heritage. public.
Bope was created in 1978 and is considered the most prepared troop for police operations in Rio de Janeiro.
