The latest 2025 transfers window of Brazilian football was closed at 11:59 pm on Tuesday (2) with the 20 Serie A clubs of the Brazilian Championship and spent about $ 1.26 billion on hiring of reinforcements, according to data compilation of the Transfermarkt site.

The amount is practically the same spent by the teams in the second window of 2024, when investments with hiring totaled R $ 1.27 billion, in amounts corrected by inflation.

Regarding the first window of the year, when clubs traditionally make more signings for the beginning of the season, there was a fall of about 40%.

In the closed window on Tuesday, Palmeiras, Flamengo and Botafogo expanded – still more – the domain among the biggest signings of Brazilian football.

Of the ten largest hires, nine were from the trio, responsible for moving about $ 740 million, just over half of the total volume of hiring in Serie A of the Brazilian.

Considered the ten largest transfers in each of the last six transfer windows in Brazil, Palmeiras, Flamengo and Botafogo respond for more than half of them (33 of 60).

Of the 20 largest transfers in the interval, the trio is responsible for 18, with an investment added to R $ 1.8 billion.

The most expensive signing among the 20 elite clubs in Brazil in this last window was that of the midfielder Danilo, who exchanged the Nottingham Forest of Inalterra for Botafogo, in a business of 23 million euros (R $ 146 million). It is the third largest amount invested by a country club in a hiring, behind Argentine Thiago Almada, hired by Alvinegro for 24.15 million euros (R $ 154 million), and Vitor Roque, bought by Palmeiras for 25.5 million euros (R $ 162 million).

They then come Samuel Lino and Carrascal, recently hired by Flamengo for 22 million (R $ 140 million) and 12.5 million euros (R $ 79.5 million), respectively. The red-black still acquired the right-back Emerson Royal for 9 million euros (R $ 57.2 million).

Already Palmeiras spent almost $ 190 million to take striker Ramón Sosa, midfielder Andreas Pereira and left back Jepfé.

The only hiring in the top 10 that was not Flamengo, Palmeiras or Botafogo was that of Ecuadorian striker Keny Arroyo, who arrived from Besikitas, from Turkey, to Cruzeiro, for 8 million euros ($ 50.9 million).

“Several clubs that have a history of hiring have been very controlled, such as Corinthians, Sao Paulo, Grêmio, RB Bragantino and Vasco, the result of the financial disability of bearing hiring,” said César Grafietti, economist and partner of the consultancy summoned.

Grafietti pointed out that previous windows were marked by some “exaggerations”, which are not sustainable in the long run against revenues.

“After such a warm market at the beginning of the year, it was natural that there was an accommodation now, because clubs have done what they always do: anticipated movements with increased revenues from 2025, whether transmission rights or BETS driven business values,” said the economist.

FIA Business School professor Michel Fauze Mattar added that recent movements may indicate the beginning of less aggressive behavior from the clubs, due to the “evident stage of deterioration of their finances”, and also by the imminent introduction of the “Fair Play” system by CBF.
