Action happens in two steps; In the first, subpoenas are sent directly to mobile phones identified with criminal restriction
It began on Tuesday (2) an operation to notify about 700 people who are using theft or theft mobile phones. These devices had been blocked but were reactivated by third parties. The action takes place in two steps. In the first, subpoenas are sent directly to mobile phones identified with criminal restriction. Users will have three business days to attend the indicated address and return the device voluntarily.
If the deadline is not met, the second phase begins: the data will be passed on to the Civil Police, who will make steps to seize the cell phones. In this situation, the person caught with the device will be taken to the police station and may respond for receipt, depending on the investigation of each case.
The SP Mobile program is responsible for the initiative. It crosses information from reporting reports with data provided by telephone operators, helping to identify receivers, fulfill warrants and weaken illegal resale networks of cell phones. Since the launch of SP Mobile, in June this year, about 3,500 devices have been recovered. More than half of them (52%) was returned to the victims. According to delegate Rodolfo Latif Sebba, program coordinator, this is the biggest action so far:
“For the first time, the action of notification and recovery of appliances is no longer punctual and now covers the entire territory of São Paulo simultaneously. The continuous improvement of the system allows a mass identification and much more accurate of the current possessors, making the operation more efficient and assertive,” he said.
