At the opening of the trial, the president of the first class, Minister Cristiano Zanin, began the session. Then the rapporteur Alexandre de Moraes presented the report of the criminal action. Soon after, the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, supported the accusation and called for the conviction of Bolsonaro and the other defendants.

The highest expectation, however, is focused on the manifestation of Jair Bolsonaro’s lawyers, named by PGR as leader of the alleged coup plot. Each defense has up to an hour to expose their arguments to the ministers of the First Class.

The first week of judgment is expected to be dedicated to the oral support of the defenses. The rapporteur’s vote, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, should open the second week of the case analysis, starting on September 9.
