A group dinner ended with an unusual invoice in Spain. In total, 18 people sat at the table, asked for several dishes and wines, and ended up leaving in the restaurant over 63,000 euros. The account, which also includes a tip close to 6,000 euros, was released by the establishment itself on social networks. The publication, accompanied by a photograph of the bead, generated thousands of reactions and raised debate about the dimension of consumption and the policy of service service.
According to the Diario de Mallorca newspaper, the meal took place at the Annabel Mallorca restaurant, located in Palmanova, on the island of Mallorca. The final value reached 63,237.90 euros, which represents an average of about 3,500 euros per person. The most expressive detail of the account is in the 45,000 euros charged for “various fish dishes”, even though it has not been specified in the bead which products served. It is also known that the group also consumed pasta, pizzas, as well as several bottles of wine.
The detail of the tip
According to the same source, the invoice also includes a 10%automatic tip, a usual restaurant practice. In this case, this increase corresponded to 5,748.90 euros, marked as “optional”, but highlighted at the end of the bead.
The newspaper writes that this policy had already been criticized in previous weeks, when the restaurant was accused of automatically adding the service rate to the accounts. The organization of consumers and users (occupa) recalled, at the time, that in Spain the tip is not mandatory and that the service must be included in the prices presented.
Reactions on social networks
Add the publication that the restaurant itself shared the invoice image on Instagram, accompanied by the message: “Who is this account? Identify us in the comments, we would like to talk to them.” The initiative added thousands of interactions, from humorous comments to criticism of the public exposure of the situation.
Some users played with the possibility of receiving similar customers, while others considered disclosure a demonstration of ostentation. There were also those who argue that discretion should be part of the policy of the house.
Possible celebrities involved
By the size of the expense, the speculation arose that customers could be US celebrities. In previous years, the island of Mallorca has received prominent public figures, such as actress Eva Longoria, which fed the rumors around the group’s identity.
According to the restaurant responsible, they claim to act with total transparency and stress that the bead shows the value with and without the tip, in capital letters and the bold. They also argue that the practice fits into a “gray zone”, as the client may request a later return of the amount.
