The Federal Supreme Court Minister () spoke on Wednesday (3/9) about statements made by his former advisor Eduardo Tagliaferro that the magistrate would have framed reports to justify an operation against Bolsonarist entrepreneurs in 2022.
The complaints filed by Tagliaferro against Moraes were made in his participation in the Senate Public Security Commission, remotely, on Tuesday (2/9), the first day of the other seven defendants of the crucial core of the alleged coup plot.
In a note sent to the press for his advisory, Moraes rejects the former advisor’s information. The minister states that during investigations regarding inquiries named “fake news” and “digital militias” reports only described “illicit posts on social networks, objectively, because they were directly linked to digital militia investigations”.
The text also explains that all procedures “were official” and “regular” and still had the knowledge of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR):
“All procedures were official, regular and are duly documented in the inquiries and investigations ongoing in the Supreme Court, with full participation of the Attorney General’s Office,” the minister defends.
Regarding the petition (PET) 10.543, which deals with the calculation of possible fraudulent news financing, hatred speech and orchestrated attacks on public institutions and the ballot boxes, the note of the Moraes Office clarifies that the procedure also followed the legal rites.
“In PET 10.543, the procedure was absolutely identical. After the decision of the Rapporteur Minister, on August 19, a report was requested to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), which was attached to the file on August 29, and the PGR appeal was not known by the STF, on September 9.

What says tagliaferro
On August 23, 2022, an operation was carried out against a group of businessmen who openly defended a coup d’état to keep Bolsonaro in power. Tagliaferro states, however, that the report based on the operation was not done before the search, but after the police action, which would indicate alleged fraud.
However, different from what Tagliaferro says, in the process it states that the report was made on August 22, a day before that operation against entrepreneurs.
“The search and seizure was held on August 23. However, if you observe, the reports and all the material that was passed to me to assemble that farce, they are from the 26th, 27th and 28th of August,” said the former advisor to Moraes, in a Senate hearing.

Tagliaferro was in August this year for crimes of functional confidentiality violation, coercion in the course of the process, obstruction of investigation of criminal organization and attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law.
The accusation concerns the alleged leakage of messages exchanged between Moraes servers in the STF and the TSE, between May 2023 and August 2024, to Folha de S. Paulo. Tagliaferro was Moraes’s advisor in the magistrate’s office in the TSE. He denies the leak.
A fugitive in Italy, Tagliaferro had a sent to Moraes in August this year to the Ministry of Justice. The STF minister also determined to block the former advisor’s accounts.
