Throughout this month the “September Verde” campaign that aims to draw the attention of the authorities to include people who present some kind of disability is in Brazil. In Sena Madureira, the mobilization was recently started and the main goal is to make society aware of the subject.

The coordinator of the Association of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional (APAE) in the municipality in the interior of Acre, Chaena Vilaça, says that despite some advances, much still needs to be done so that the rights to be respected.
“There are many mishaps faced by people with disabilities. We need to talk about inclusion, accessibility and more dignity for these people every day. We are in the fight, always seeking the necessary improvements,” he said.

APAE is the only place in Madureira Sena that serves children with autism, Down syndrome, among other issues. Monthly, around 600 calls are made. “There are more than 150 families served and there are still people in the queue. It is why we need more help to expand the care,” he said.
During the campaign, which has as its theme the inclusion in the society of people with disabilities, lectures will be held, among other activities focusing primarily on the awareness of the authorities and the community in general.
