The defense of former Augusto Heleno chief was by far the one who most used the former president (PL) figure in his argument, but to detach from her. Analysis of Sheet Based on the transcription of the discourses of the coup plot judgment in the Supreme Court (Supreme Court) found that lawyer Matheus Milanez made more references to Bolsonaro than the defenders of the former chief executive.
Milanez made 61 references to Bolsonaro, while his defense, led by lawyers Celso Vilardi and Paulo Amador da Cunha Bueno, quoted the former president practically half of that.
The tonic of Milanez’s speech is that the relationship of Heleno and Bolsonaro. One of the reasons would have been the former president’s affiliation to the PL and the approach to the center.
“Of course there is no 100% removal. Because, with a 100% departure he would land from the government and cease to be supporter of the president. But publicly, he was always supporter of the president, continued and defended him,” said the lawyer.
Heleno is seen as one of Bolsonaro’s leading consultants during his four years in the presidency. In the complaint of the Attorney General’s Office, he would have prepared Bolsonaro’s speech against the electronic ballot boxes and authorized illegal spying favorable to the former president.
Federal Police found in Heleno’s house a notebook with “prior planning of the criminal organization to manufacture a speech contrary to the electronic ballot box.”
Like Bolsonaro, Heleno is responsible for the crimes of armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, attempted coup, qualified damage against the heritage of the Union and deterioration of listed heritage.
In all, Bolsonaro was quoted by the defense of the other seven defendants at least 148 times, a technical draw with, his former chief of orders who became the target of the other accused when having made an award-winning report.
Much of the defense’s speech tries to overthrow Cid’s collaboration, alleging lack of voluntarity and credibility for omission and change in testimonials.
Who most mentioned Cid was the lawyer, at least 88 times, followed by the defenders of Jair Bolsonaro, with 22 citations.
“The collaborator was important before being demoralized. Now that he is demoralized, because I take the lie for the nth time. It is not for the first time for the urge time,” said Celso Vilardi.
Mauro Cid’s defense did not highlight other defendants in his argument, except for two brief mentions to Garnier and four to Jair Bolsonaro.
The report collected the speeches of the eight defendants, transcribed them with the help of an artificial intelligence tool and fully checked all support. Nominally explicit mentions were considered, but also other references to each person, such as the use of the terms “minister”, “president”, “rapporteur”, among others.
